When you start playing poker, you will probably start with low-limit games. If you are successful, then this not immediately say that you are a good player, but is does indicate that your are able to beat weaker players.
Winning to ‘low limit’ games is actually pretty straightforward. Most opponents you come across at the lower table are primarily concerned with their own cards and too busy to pay attention to you. They almost seem to forget that you are still in the pot. You almost seem like a ghost…but hopefully a ghost that is taking their money! If you want to beat weaker players, then you should keep your game fairly simple. Play tight, forget about the bluffing and become ‘aggressive’ once you are sure that you have the strongest hand.
Try to be selective with your starting hands and only play winning hands. Psychological tricks are often useless, because your opponents at that level don’t think that far ahead.
